We'll let him slide as it was a busy summer!
The June Member of the Month is Seth Munson.
Years of Service - 25 years in the fire service, 6 years with Union Previous Fire Service Experience - I grew up around, and am currently Chief of, the Silver Spring Community Fire Company (Cumberland County Co. 31).
Career/Education - Currently, I am a career driver/operator at Carlisle Fire and Rescue Services, previous to that I was a federal firefighter at NSA Mechanicsburg. I worked 8 years at the Cumberland County Department of Public Safety as a dispatcher and in technical systems. My public safety career started with working 7 years in EMS across a couple agencies in Cumberland County.
What Encouraged You to Join - I joined Union when I moved to the Carlisle area and had two friends that ran there. I was also interested in the call volume and the history of the department.
Fire Service Awards - 3 Life Saver Awards, 1 Unit Citation, 2022 Recipient of the SSCFC Brotherhood Award Family Info - My mother and father were involved in the fire service when I was born. I literally was at the fire house the day I got out of the hospital, sitting in my car seat on the counter, while my parents worked the kitchen for bingo. I have an older sister and an older brother, though neither of them got into the fire service.
Most Memorable Call - Definitely the Lear Building fire in 2012. It was uncomfortably hot even half a block away. The thermal column was so massive it was lifting chunks of material into the air, not just ash.
Congratulations, Seth! We appreciate your positive attitude around the station! |
