West Pennsboro- Engine 141 (with 4) was added as the next due engine yesterday afternoon for a Pole Barn fire in West Pennsboro. Union’s crew arrived on scene as the second engine and all four of the crew went to work with mutual aid partners to extinguish the fire and protect exposures. Tanker 41 was added further into the duration of the call and arrived on scene. Crews worked for approximately an hour and a half before being placed available by command.

North Middleton- E141 with 3 responded to the old mckays cave bar for a reported building fire. E 141 crew had fire attack off of engine 245. E141 dropped crew off and went to locate positive water source. Fire was contained to the third quadrant of the building on the c/d side.

Carlisle Boro- E141 responded w/4 to 629 S Hanover St for a reported house fire. Upon raising the engine bay door, the crew could see a visible column of black smoke from the south side of town. HQ immediately upgraded to a 2nd alarm after reports of multiple people trapped were received. After laying in from the hydrant at S Hanover St/E Ridge St, heavy fire was present on the Charlie side of the building extending up all 3 floors. LT 141 noticed EMS and PD running around the Bravo side of the house pointing at the basement windows. After moving up he recognized an occupant was trapped in the basement which also had a moderate smoke condition. LT 141 used his halligan bar to break and take the window and then forcibly removed the victim by pulling him out and placed him in the care of EMS. LT 141 entered side A and proceeded to do an aggressive primary search ahead of the line on divisions 1,2, & attic, a search that proved negative. During that time, the rest of the 41 crew stretched a 200' crosslay to the C side of the building and began to extinguish the visible fire on the exterior before making an aggressive interior attack into the C side of the building. A second crosslay was deployed off E141 and a stretch was made to the attic which was well involved with fire and met with extremely high heat conditions. Crew from Co.45 was able to cut a hole in the roof on the B/C corner to help interior conditions improve. The 41 crew continued to operate for the duration of the incident completing extinguishment, overhaul, secondary searches, etc. Units operated for approximately 3 hours before clearing. Carlisle PD and FM are currently investigating the cause of the fire and 1 occupant was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

Thank you to West End Fire & Rescue for transferring to the U and covering the Boro while we were on scene. The crew handled a fire alarm in South Middleton Twp.
