No Caption It’s been quite a week for the majority of the emergency responders in Cumberland County

Union Fire Company No.1, April 25

Union members have responded to over 40 calls for service within the last week. Those calls have included 2 significant mountain fires, several auto accidents including one with confinement, a search detail, miscellaneous fires, box alarms and our usual day to day calls.

I-81 Trailer Fire: Earlier this afternoon Engine 241 and the Chief assisted Company 50 with a trailer fire on I-81 S near Exit 37

Engine 241 had two lines off for fire attack. Crews were on scene for around an hour. Company 41 handled seven other calls throughout the day.

6 call Friday and a Barn Fire 🔥 Company 41 responded to 6 incidents Friday

Around 16:20 Tanker 41 (2) responded to Slaybaughtown Rd in Adams County Huntington Twp (9-9 box) to assist with a large barn on fire. Around 17:05 Engine 241 was added and also responded with 3. The Engine Co was committed until a little after 8pm and the Tanker was committed until around 10pm.

March 1969.....large field fire across from the Valley Motel. This is the area with all the warehouses and business on the Ritner Highway. This area was South Middleton Township at this time prior to being anexxed into the Borough. It was one big field in those days between the railroad and the Ritner.

...Deer Lane house fire....Engine 341, Tanker 141, and T241 responded. Bob Wise was driving the engine. Bill Berry was driving Tanker 241, Bob Shipp may nave been driving T141.

New Kingstown and Shermansdale also responded.

Terry Hosterman, Don Bishop, John Sheaffer, Rick Barrick and maybe others on the engine.

Yesterday around 08:00 Engine 241 / Tanker 41 and mutual aid companies responded to UPS on Ames Dr in Dickinson Twp for a reported building fire. Initial information reported a 53’ trailer was on fire and had extended into the building. Chief 45 arrived and requested the first alarm due to a large volume of smoke / fire showing and sprinklers activated in the building. Engine 241 arrived shortly ... (Full Story & Photos)
